Last Saturday Rob Vens gave his talk Smalltalk - Back to the Future at the Sogeti Engineering World 2009 conference in Zeist, The Netherlands. Some 180 (Dutch) software engineers attended the conference. Most of them do Java or .net at large companies. I spotted a few Smalltalkers and Rubyists too. Rob had an audience of just over 30 people. Not bad given that four other sessions were on at the same time. Back to the Future was the theme of this years conference, making Rob's talk a nice fit. A small survey pointed out that some of Rob's attendees do make a living with Smalltalk and some (software engineers!) had never heard of it. This tells that it does make a difference to do a Smalltalk presentation for a hostile audience ;-).
